Health authorities in Abu Dhabi have specified four categories of residents who can opt for a saliva test instead of the nasal test to detect Covid-19.
The four categories are:
- Children aged below 12 years.
- Those who have been vaccinated against Covid-19.
- Some in-patients.
- The elderly.
Doctors and officials said saliva testing is a reliable alternative to detecting the virus and is less invasive. Saliva samples are more reliable to detect the virus in the early stages.
