Bahrain: Al Salam Bank To Support Bahrain’s Dream Of Qualifying For FIFA World Cup

Bahrain’s Al Salam Bank rolled out its latest Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) programme as part of its ‘Why Stop Here’ brand campaign and is hoping to realise the nation’s dream of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup.

The company will support national efforts to empower and develop various key sectors within the local community. The initiatives centre around three main segments: sports, health, and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).

A big part of the campaign is the ‘Project Dream’ initiative, under which Al Salam Bank aims to support national efforts in paving the way for young talents by nurturing their football skills, with the hope that they will potentially join Bahrain’s national team at the 2030 and 2034 World Cups.

For this, Al Salam Bank has entered a strategic partnership with Ole Academy, which has been chosen for its remarkable track record in fostering football excellence. The academy has a team of internationally experienced coaches and a history of achieving significant milestones, including winning prestigious championships and developing top-class players who have excelled on national and international stages.

This collaboration will develop the players through plans that will help elevate the technical, tactical, and physical skills of young players. Mental well-being will also be a key focus area. It also includes plans of biennial talent exchange programmes with well-known European football clubs, coupled with external training camps.

These will be in conjunction with the relevant Bahraini authorities, including the Bahrain Football Association, and look to complement the ongoing efforts.

Mahmood Qannati, Head of Marketing and Communications at Al Salam Bank, commented: “Our latest initiative, ‘Project Dream’, will support various national efforts in Bahraini football. This represents more than just a commitment to our clients; it embodies our support for a national dream: to see the Bahrain national football team compete in the World Cup.

“At Al Salam Bank, we understand the importance of this long-standing ambition to every Bahraini citizen, and through this initiative, we are setting in motion a series of strategic efforts to turn this dream into a reality.”

The ‘Why Stop Here’ campaign showcases Al Salam Bank’s goals to establish the next generation of ambitious talents and build future success stories in Bahrain.

As part of the campaign, the bank will continue its collaboration with the Bahrain Paralympic Committee. They will promote and highlight Bahraini Paralympic athletes and spread awareness within the local community. This initiative coincides with the forthcoming Paris Paralympics this year.

It also includes the bank’s ongoing initiatives in cooperation with relevant health sector authorities. It will also leverage its resources to provide further support to Bahraini entrepreneurs and SMEs.

Commenting on the initiative, Eihab Ahmed, Deputy CEO of Corporate Affairs at Al Salam Bank, said: “By building on our current momentum with the launch of ‘Why Stop Here’, we believe in empowering our local community and creating a lasting impact on our clientele that goes beyond our daily offerings and financial solutions.”

The 2019 Gulf Cup champions have never qualified for the FIFA World Cup.
