Oman: Ministry issues COVID-19 isolation guidelines for employees

The Ministry of Labour has established a period of sanitary isolation for employees who test positive for Covid-19 or come into contact with infected cases.

The Ministry requests all units of the state’s administrative apparatus and other public legal persons, and private sector institutions to implement the health isolation system for those infected with Covid-19  and contacts, as follows:

1- Unvaccinated person in contact with infected cases should be isolated for a period of seven days if he/she is asymptomatic, and on the eighth day he/she should perform a Covid-19 test. If the test result is negative, the isolation is terminated, and if the test result is positive, then ten days of isolation must be completed.

2- Vaccinated person in contact with infected cases is not isolated unless symptoms appear. In this case, he/she should perform a Covid-19 test if the result of the test is positive, he/she is isolated for seven days and on the eighth day, he/she should perform a rapid antigen test. If the result of the test is negative, the isolation is terminated, and if it is positive, he/she should complete ten days of isolation.

3- Patients who have symptoms must conduct a Covid-19 test. If the test result is positive, he/she should be isolated for seven days and on the eighth day, he/she should perform a rapid antigen test. If the test result is negative, the isolation is terminated, and if it is positive, he/she has to complete ten days of isolation.

4- If the patient has no symptoms and the PCR test is positive (for example, a test for the purpose of travel), he/she has to be isolated for 72 hours, after which a rapid antigen test is performed. If the test result is negative, the isolation is terminated.”
