Bahrain: Hospital denies patients’ death due to fungus

Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) denied the alleged death of a number of patients due to Candida Auris fungus. SMC management dismissed the allegations posted by conventional and social media as being untrue, adding that the patients had passed away due to health complications.

Candida Auris, a common fungus that causes oral infections, is usually found in hospitals and health facilities all over the world, including developed countries and in the best health care institutions. The SMC infection control team carries out periodic routine checks to monitor any possible infection in the medical complex. A number of patients have been detected after wiping the surface of the skin without causing any internal infections or injuries to any organ.
