Bahrain: Individuals, restaurants fined for COVID-19 violations

The Lower Criminal Court has imposed fines ranging from BD 1,000 to BD 2,000 on twelve defendants and ten restaurants for flouting COVID-19 precautionary measures during Eid Al-Fitr holiday. The total amount of fines imposed by the court was BD 34,000.

The Public Health Directorate reported the violations committed by the restaurants which allowed customers in and served them without verifying their vaccination against the novel coronavirus through BeAware Bahrain application.

Moreover, they did not take the temperatures of the customers; therefore, the restaurants were closed administratively and an investigation was launched by the Public Prosecution.
