Bahrain: Tourism facility faces legal action for holding gatherings

A tourism facility in Muharraq has been referred to the Public Prosecution for violating decisions to ban gatherings and adhere to the precautionary measures to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus pandemic, the Public Health Directorate at the Health Ministry has revealed.

During an inspection visit to the facility yesterday, in coordination with the Interior Ministry and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority (BTEA), the Public Health Directorateā€™s inspectors found that two gatherings for a special event were held in two separate rooms, including 15 persons and 19 persons respectively.

The inspectors of the three entities took the necessary measures against the facility, and procedures to refer the violators to the Public Prosecution are being taken.

BTEA renewed its call to all tourism and hotel facilities to fully comply with the ministerial decisions and recommendations issued by the competent authorities in order to prevent the spread of the pandemic.

The Public Health Directorate urged individuals and institutions to fully cooperate with the relevant authorities in order to ensure the success of the national efforts to confront the pandemic.
