Bahrain: NIHR to monitor compliance of outdoor work ban

The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has launched an initiative to report the abuse of workers obliged to work in open spaces between noon and 4 pm in July and August.

The initiative follows up the Labor Ministry decision to ban outdoor work under the summer scorching sun.

NIHR also called on employers in the private sector to provide facemasks and ask all workers to use them in the workplace in order to reduce the spread of infection among workers.

It stressed the importance of taking the temperature of all workers entering and leaving the work sites and upon leaving their accommodations.

Workers with high temperatures should be isolated immediately and the relevant procedures should be activated.

The NIHR called on employers to limit mixing and to reduce the number of workers in workplaces, particularly in restrooms, waiting rooms, and changing rooms, in addition to vehicles for transporting workers within the workplace and to and from work sites.
