Saudi Arabia Reports Spread of JN.1 Variant, No Increase in ICU Admissions
The Public Health Authority of Saudi Arabia (Weqaya) has reported a swift spread of the JN.1 variant within the country, which now accounts for 36% of the COVID-19 cases.
Notably, this surge has not led to an increase in the number of patients requiring intensive care, Weqaya said.
The authority has dispelled rumours and warnings about a new pandemic, affirming that the JN.1 variant is a derivative of COVID-19 and does not warrant heightened concern.
“The effectiveness of the developed vaccines against this variant remains valid. Consequently, there is no need for stringent measures or alarm regarding this development.”
The authority reassured us that there is no cause for concern regarding this development.
The JN.1 variant, part of the continuously evolving SARS-CoV-2 virus, has been under close monitoring by health authorities globally.
