Jordan intercepts 3 Iranian missiles; Kuwait reports strike on power and water plant

Jordan’s military intercepted three of four Iranian missiles on Sunday, while the fourth fell in a remote area in the country’s south without causing casualties or damage, Al Jazeera reported, citing Jordan’s state news agency. Warning sirens also sounded in the capital, Amman, as regional tensions continued following Iranian attacks across the Gulf. The developments came after the US Embassy in Amman issued a security alert advising American citizens to avoid the airport and seaport in Aqaba because of “a specific and credible threat.” “We strongly advise all Americans to refrain from travelling to either the airport or seaport. Indian Embassy in Kuwait restricts passport and visa services to emergency cases

Passport, visa and consular work restricted; ICAC centres shut until further notice The Embassy of India in Kuwait has temporarily restricted passport, visa and consular services to emergency cases only until July 19, 2026, citing administrative reasons. The embassy said only applicants who provide documents proving the urgent nature of their requests will be allowed to access services during this period. The embassy will continue to process urgent requests, including: Short-validity passports for applicants whose Civil ID is nearing expiry Routine services will not be accepted or processed during the temporary restriction period, including: The embassy also announced that all Indian Consular Application Centres (ICAC) in Kuwait will remain closed for accepting applications until further notice. Applicants seeking emergency assistance have been advised to visit the Embassy’s Consular Wing between 9am and 12 noon with the required supporting documents. The embassy urged Indian nationals and other applicants to check official updates before visiting service centres. Kuwaiti air defences repel missile, drone attacks

The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army said early on Wednesday that Kuwait’s air defence systems are engaging with hostile drones and missiles. The blasts heard in some parts of the country resulted from mid-air interceptions, according to a statement from the General Staff carried by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA). Kuwait responds to ‘hostile’ air attacks

Kuwait’s air defenses were in operation intercepting “hostile missile and drone attacks” early on Thursday morning, the country’s military confirmed. “The General Staff of the Army notes that any explosions heard are a result of air defense systems intercepting hostile attacks,” read a post on social media without specifying the origin of the attacks. Iran claims it targeted 85 US military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it struck 85 US military targets in Bahrain and Kuwait in response to what it called a US “ceasefire violation”, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that its air defence systems shot down a US MQ-9 drone over Khormuj in Bushehr province, according to Tasnim News. IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohbi said the drone was downed following what he described as “aerial aggression” by the US military. The claim has not been independently verified. Kuwait shuts seven healthcare facilities over serious violations, and unlicensed treatments uncovered

Health Minister Ahmad Al Awadhi ordered the closure of the seven healthcare facilities and referred a medical centre to the Medical Liability Authority after a joint inspection uncovered serious violations of health regulations, the Ministry of Health said in a statement. The ministry said the closures cover a medical centre, a clinic, physiotherapy centres and home healthcare service providers after inspectors identified breaches of licensing requirements, professional practice rules and technical and administrative regulations. The medical centre in Salmiya was referred to the Medical Liability Authority for investigation following a joint inspection involving the Ministry of Health’s Health Licensing Department, the Drug Inspection Department, the Public Authority for Manpower and the General Department of Criminal Investigation. Inspectors found several people practising healthcare professions without the required licences. Among them was an individual registered on his civil identity card as a sales representative who was found treating patients, providing medical consultations and administering Botox and dermal filler injections. Opec’s Global Crude Output Share Could Fall From 35% to 31% Without UAE: EIA

New Delhi: The United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) exit from Opec has reduced the group’s share in global crude oil production and production capacity, according to data released by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). According to the report, Opec, including the UAE, produced an estimated 28.0 million b/d of crude oil in 2025, accounting for 35 per cent of total global crude oil production. Without the UAE, Opec’s share of world crude oil production would have been 31 per cent. It stated, “Without the UAE’s contribution, the group’s share of world total crude oil production would have been 31 per cent in 2025”. The report further stated that the broader Opec+ group accounted for about 46 per cent of global crude oil production in 2025. Excluding the UAE, Opec+’s share would have been closer to 42 per cent. Saudi Arabia remained the largest and most influential member of Opec.
