The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (Nafis) announced the launch of a new Teaching Specialists Programme. This progamme is set to provide training and bridging programmes required in the job market for Emirati talent and professional accreditation opportunities for the private sector. The plan aims to hire 1,000 Emiratis annually in the education sector, beginning in 2024. Dubai Knowledge Park, a free zone hub of 700 higher education institutes, vocational academies, and training centres, has secured the Guinness World Record for the ‘World’s Largest Rubik’s Cube’ to commemorate its 20th anniversary. The installation at the Park, which is part of TECOM Group PJSC, weighs over 300kg and is 3m x 3m x 3m. It comprises 21 fiberglass cubes, each almost one metre tall. The World’s Largest Rubik’s Cube is now open for public viewing and interaction following a recent launch at the heart of Dubai Knowledge Park. Why Rubik’s Cube? The cube “represents a tangible manifestation of Dubai Knowledge Park’s unwavering dedication to fostering creative thinking and analytical skills across generations”, the entity said in a media release on Tuesday. Every turn of the cube symbolises “not just a twist of coloured squares but the acquisition of new skills, the conquering of complex tasks, and bridging knowledge gaps – a reminder that the journey of acquiring knowledge can indeed be an enjoyable one”, it added. Dubai Knowledge Park since its launch in 2003 has grown as the home of over 700 local, regional, and international establishments, with talent represented from more than 170 countries.

The UAE has introduced a new work permit for teachers offering private tuition. The work permit will be mandatory for registered teachers, private sector employees, and even teenage school students offering paid private tuition services outside of schools and colleges. Private tutors offering lessons without the permit face fines from UAE ministries. The Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) have introduced a new Private Teacher Work Permit in an effort to enhance the education process, regulate the provision of private lessons for students outside educational institutions, and curb haphazard practices in the sector. The new permit allows a range of different groups of specialised and qualified professionals from the community to offer private lessons for students, individually or in groups. Beneficiaries include registered teachers in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Friday announced the dates for the next ICSE and ISC board exams for Class 10 and 12, respectively. For Class 10 students, the ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) exams will start on February 21 and run until March 28. Test duration ranges from two to three hours on each day, with most starting at 11am. Results are expected to be released in May 2024. Class 12 students, on the other hand, will be taking their ISC (Indian School Certificate) board exams from February 12 to April 3. Takers will be given three hours to complete the paper assigned on a given day. Results will also be released in May 2024. Both the ICSE and ISC are examinations conducted by CISCE, a private board of education in India, headquarted in New Delhi. Private schools in Dubai have been ranked among the world’s best institutions —clinching a spot in the Top 10 for mathematics, according to a performance review based on students’ skills and knowledge. After comparing 81 countries and regions around the world, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has released the results of its Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa 2022). Dubai schools’ most remarkable achievement is seen in their math performance: From No. 34 in 2015, it is now No. 9 in the world, beating countries like Canada, the UK, and Australia. The emirate ranked 13th for reading and 14th for science, according to Pisa results. Conducted by the OECD, Pisa evaluates the effectiveness of education systems worldwide, with mathematics being a major focus in 2022. The rankings are based on the assessment of skills and knowledge of 15-year-old students.

Dubai Police have added the Lamborghini Urus Performante to the world-famous fleet of patrol supercars. The addition of the high-performance supercar was held at the Dubai Airshow 2023. The police fleet of supercars already includes cars from Aston Martin, Bugatti, Ferrari, Bentley, Porsche, McLaren and even luxury speed boats and a 3D-printed SWAT supertruck. Dubai Police add Lamborghini to supercar fleet The Lamborghini Urus Performante has 4l V8 twin-turbocharged engine with a power of 666 horsepower, which allows the car to go from 0 to 100 km in less than 3.3 seconds. The inclusion of this high-performance supercar into Dubai Police’s fleet underscores the emirate’s commitment to advanced law enforcement standards. Major General Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, Acting Commander-in-Chief of the emirate’s police force, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with Lamborghini. The high-performance Revuelto offers innovative design, maximum-efficiency aerodynamics and a new carbon frame concept says Lamborghini. The high-spec vehicle was unveiled in Lamborghini’s showroom in Dubai. The car has been designed for optimal driving pleasure on both roads and dirt surfaces. The Huracán Sterrato offers optimised driving dynamics for perfect control in all environments, from the highway to dirt roads. The Huracán Sterrato comes with a 5.2l V10 engine with maximum power output of 610 CV and 560 Nm of torque (at 6500 rpm), combined with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and electronically controlled all-wheel drive with rear mechanical self-locking differential.
