Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp users experience worldwide outage

Popular social media apps Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram stopped working for millions of users worldwide on Monday.

Thousands of users of the apps took to Twitter to complain about the sudden crash. Twitter filled with memes about those turned to the app when the popular communication apps crashed. All three apps are owned by Facebook.

WhatsApp said on Twitter that it’s working to get things back to normal.

Outage tracker Downdetector was showing outages in heavily populated areas like Washington and Paris, with problems being reported from around 1545 GMT.

Users trying to access Facebook in affected areas were greeted with the message: “Something went wrong. We’re working on it and we’ll get it fixed as soon as we can.”
