HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick: Is it more than just a new look?

The HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick has recently been released in Bahrain. You read that right… lipstick – referring to its new and unique design resembling the beauty cosmetic associated with boldness and strength. But does this ring true for the quality of the device?
Inspired by the red lipstick, the most striking feature of this device is its ultra-chic design. Its sleek stainless-steel tube-shaped casing would have it easily mistaken for any luxury lipstick.
When you lift the lid, you will find the buds in a rich red color, sitting on top of the case resembling a classic red lipstick. The buds are magnetic, which allow them to easily snap in place. The casing also is secured with magnets, which is reassuring. However, the lid is shaped specifically to accommodate the earbuds from one angle only. I often found myself continuously turning the lid around to get it to snap shut correctly without looking.
The case is quite heavy, which often had me anxious that it’d slip from my hand and break. On the other hand, its weight and smooth, glossy material gives off the premium, luxury item feel.
The buds are light and fit nice and snug in the ear. Its audio technology includes open-fit active and call noise cancellation. It also features wear detection sensor and smart connectivity via Bluetooth to most devices. You can take calls and pause music or videos with intuitive gestures.
In terms of sound quality, it has a 14.3mm LCP dynamic driver that delivers a clear and crisp output, with a frequency range of up to 40 kHz. The earbuds are equipped with a bass-enhancing power engine that generates a deep punchy base.
The battery life is quite long and I rarely found myself needing to charge. With the active noise cancellation (ANC) off, you get 22 hours of music playback with a fully charged case and 4 hours from the fully charged earbuds. With the ANC on, you get 14 hours of music playback with a fully charged case and 2.5 hours from the fully charged earbuds.
Overall, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Lipstick is a great device that delivers both quality and style. Although it is marketed towards women, this device can equally be used by men.
