Iran Does Not Want To Buy Russian Su-35 Fourth-Generation Fighters Because of Russia’s Reluctance To Transfer Production Technologies

The Russian Federation may lose a customer willing to buy Su-35 fighter jets. The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces opposes the purchase of the fourth-generation aircraft.

This was announced by the commander of the Air Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi (Hamid Vahedi). The main reason is that Russia refuses to transfer technology that would allow Iran to establish the production of components for aircraft on its territory.

Tehran plans to perform maintenance on the Su-35 fighter jets for the next 30 years. At the same time, the Russian government does not want to share the information necessary for this.

Hamid Vahedi that the Russians want to sell only 25 Su-35 fighters without full maintenance, support and armament. The planes were previously earmarked for the Egyptian Air Force, but the African country backed out of the deal due to the threat of sanctions.
