UAE Announces Release Of Over 2,670 Prisoners Ahead Of Ramadan 2024

The UAE has announced the release of hundreds of prisoners ahead of Ramadan.

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has directed the release of 735 prisoners from correctional and penal facilities, ahead of the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Sheikh Mohamed will personally cover all fines and penalties imposed on the inmates, who have been sentenced to jail terms for a variety of offences

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has ordered the release of 691 prisoners of different nationalities from Dubai’s correctional and punitive establishments, ahead of the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Chancellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan, Attorney General of Dubai, said the pardon reflects Sheikh Mohammed’s keenness to reunite the pardoned individuals with their families during the Holy Month.

The pardon gives the released prisoners an opportunity to get a fresh start in life and reintegrate into the community, he added.

Dubai Public Prosecution, in collaboration with Dubai Police, has already commenced the legal procedures to implement the order, said Al Humaidan.

Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the release of 484 prisoners of various nationalities from Sharjah’s correctional and punitive establishments.

Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, extended his deepest gratitude to the Ruler of Sharjah for the generous pardon, which reflects a keenness to support the family entity in Sharjah, bringing joy to the hearts of the convicts’ families in these holy days.

Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, has ordered the release of 368 prisoners and pledged to settle their financial liabilities with the advent of Ramadan.

The prisoners’ release comes as part of Shaikh Saud’s keenness to give pardoned inmates an opportunity to start a new life and bring about stability for their families.

Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, has ordered the release of 314 prisoners from punitive and correctional institutions in Ajman.

The inmates of various nationalities were selected based on good conduct and behaviour.

The gesture is part of the Ajman Ruler’s keenness to give prisoners an opportunity to start a new life and bring joy to their families.

Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, has ordered the release of 87 prisoners of various nationalities from the emirate’s correctional and punitive establishments.

The pardon was given to the prisoners who have a proven track record of good conduct.
