Oman Announces Holiday In 5 Regions, Issues Remote Work Rule Across Rest Of Country As Rain Continues

Oman has suspended work in selected regions of the country due to adverse weather conditions.

A holiday has been declared for public and private sector regions in areas expected to be most heavily impacted by rains in the sultanate.

Meanwhile, other parts of the country have been encouraged to offer remote-working schedules for people unable to attend offices.

The governates where work is being suspended are:

  • Musandam
  • Al Buraimi
  • A’Dhahirah
  • North Al Batinah
  • A’Dakhiliyah

A message shared on social media accounts of state-run news agency ONA said: “In view of the adverse weather condition that prevails in #Oman, it has been decided to suspend work tomorrow Tuesday 16 April, for employees in public and private sector establishments in the governorates of Musandam, Al Buraimi, A’Dhahirah, North Al Batinah and A’Dakhiliyah.

“In other governorates, online work can be applied if it is not possible for employees to physically attend office”.
