Oman: Guidelines for travelers updated

The Sultanate of Oman has updated its travel guidelines for people arriving and departing from the country.

Arriving in Oman:

All travellers 18-year old and above should have taken two doses of vaccine in order to enter the Sultanate of Oman from all ports.

 If you are fully vaccinated- with a negative test result taken pre-arrival:

1. Register through: http://travel.moh.gov.om
2. Upload the vaccine certificate with the QR code through the official Oman MoH website.
3. A negative result of COVID-19 PCR test, or a reservation for Covid-19 PCR test upon arrival to the Sultanate of Oman.
4. Present the travel request from the Travel Registration Form (TRF) upon arrival.

 If you are not vaccinated (Omani Nationals only):

1. Register through the official Oman MoH website in order to get TRF code.
2. Upload a pre-arrival negative PCR test result with QR code  through the official Oman MoH website.
3. Reserve for another PCR test upon arrival to the Sultanate of Oman.
4. Take a PCR test upon arrival at the airport.
5. Home quarantine for 7 days.
6. Take another PCR test on the 8th day.
7. If tested positive, residents must quarantine for an additional 10 days.

 If your PCR test result is positive (Omani Nationals Only):

If you got a positive PCR test result at the traveling destination.

1. You shall complete the quarantine period (X days according to the quarantine rules at the traveling destination).
2. Once you have completed your quarantine period, you must get the “Immunity certificate” from the health care provider stating that you have completed the quarantine period and recovered.
3. When arriving in Oman you will be asked to present the “Immunity certificate” and the “vaccine certificate” and no PCR test or quarantine will be required.

Please be advised that the airlines shall not board any passengers (Omani and non-Omani) with a positive PCR test result.

Aircrews are subject to the precautionary measures for COVID-19 issued by the Ministry of Health.

 Citizens of the Sultanate of Oman and the UAE should:

• Upload a COVID-19 vaccination certificate as approved in the Sultanate of Oman on http://travel.moh.gov.om
• Upload A negative result of the COVID-19 PCR test conducted within 14 days prior to the scheduled time of arrival in the Sultanate of Oman on http://travel.moh.gov.om
• Present the registration certificate in http://travel.moh.gov.om when traveling between the two countries

Approved vaccines in Oman:

• 2 doses of (Pfizer BioNTech, Oxford Astrazeneca, Covishield AstraZeneca, Sputnik, Sinovac, Moderna, and Sinopharm, or (a single dose of Johnson & Johnson).
• The last dose is required to be taken at least fourteen (14) days ahead of the estimated arrival time.

Please note that the Ministry of Health publishes and updates the list of vaccines approved in Oman.

All travelers arriving in the Sultanate of Oman are required to obtain international health insurance to cover the cost of one month’s treatment of COVID- 19, with the exception of Omani citizens, GCC citizens, and travelers with free treatment cards.

Travellers below 18 and travelers with medically confirmed health conditions that prevent them from taking the vaccination are exempt from presenting the COVID-19 vaccine certificate and PCR test certificate.
 
Departing from Oman:

• Make sure to continuously check with your airline in order to learn about the requirements of the destination you are headed to, also don’t forget to consider the following requirements:
• Omani citizens and residents can travel abroad without pre-approval.
• Omani citizens shall have health insurance covering COVID-19 valid in the country they are traveling to.
• Consider online check-in, where possible, prior to arrival at the airport to avoid face-to-face contact at the airport
• Travellers need to be at the airport at least 3 hours before the official time of departure or 4 hours at most.
• Never travel if you display coronavirus symptoms.
• If required, PCR tests can be done at the Airport Drive-through and Walk-in facilities, located in P5 car park in Muscat and at Lifeline Hospital Salalah.
• The cost of the drive-thru PCR test is 19 OMR, you can register for it through the official Oman MoH website.
• Test results will be available within 24 hours at: http://travel.moh.gov.om
• The certified Ministry of Health test report is now electronically available on http://travel.moh.gov.om for a fee of 5 OMR
• Keep checking the latest COVID-19 travel and testing requirements for your destination with your airline in case of any sudden updates.

According to Oman Airports, all the necessary protective measures have been implemented in the terminal buildings to make travelling safe. Travellers’ commitment and cooperation in adhering to the measures taken will help overcome this pandemic together, such as:   

• Travellers must have a valid air ticket to be allowed into the airport terminal building.
• Do not travel if you feel sick or have a fever.
• Wearing a face mask is mandatory inside the airport terminal.
• Maintain a social distance of at least 1.5 metres inside the airport terminal.
• Check-in online to avoid face-to-face contact at the airport.
• Clean and disinfect touched objects and surfaces, including mobile phones.
• Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer frequently.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
• Cover your mouth and nose with a paper towel cover or a flexed elbow when sneezing or coughing, even when wearing a mask.
• Avoid unnecessary contact with others, including handshaking and other greeting gestures.
