Saudi: Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq Upsets Al-Nassr With 2-1 Victory

In a stunning upset, Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq dealt a blow to Al-Nassr’s celebrations by securing a remarkable 2-1 victory on Monday.

The showdown unfolded as part of the inaugural round of the Saudi Professional League’s new season.

The match took place at the Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd Stadium, where Al-Nassr, fresh from their recent triumph in the Arab Clubs Champions Cup, hoped to continue their winning momentum.

The absence of Cristiano Ronaldo due to injury didn’t dampen their spirits, but Al-Ettifaq had other plans.

Senegalese talisman Sadio Mane, donning the Al-Nassr jersey for the first time, ignited the scoreboard in the fourth minute with a swift and precise goal. His debut goal signalled a night of celebration for the visiting team.

However, Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq refused to be overshadowed. The second half saw a resurgent performance, with two goals that turned the tide of the game.

Swedish player Robin Quaison struck first in the 47th minute, swiftly followed by French sensation Moussa Dembélé, who found the net in the 53rd minute
