Oman lockdown to begin tonight

Starting tonight, Oman goes into a lockdown from 8pm to 5am until April 8. The lockdown applies to all commercial activities as well individual and vehicular movements.

Royal Oman Police (ROP) spokesperson said that it would continue its role to deal with maintaining the safety and ensure that the rules are adhered to by general public. There will be traffic patrols and monitoring by the ROP across the country. Strict penalties will be handed down to the violators for non-adherence to stipulated rules.

Services that will not be affected during the lockdown include movement of essential and emergency-services vehicles, cleaning and sanitation vehicles, ambulances, and trucks with a capacity load of more than 3 tons.
