Saudi: Aviation sector aims for three-fold passenger volume increase

The President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, said the contribution of the civil aviation and air transport sector to the Kingdom’s GDP is expected to increase to more than SR280 billion by 2030. This in comparison to about SR80 billion in 2018.

GACA aims that the civil aviation sector in the Kingdom will be the first in the Middle East and the fifth globally in air connectivity by 2030. The Saudi air travel sector aims to expand to more than 250 international destinations before the target year from only 99 destinations in 2019.

It also aims to be ranked first in air freight movement in the region by increasing the capacity to 4.5 million tons, from about 800,000 tons in the year 2019.
