Saudi Arabia records 1,293 new coronavirus cases and 14 deaths

COVID-19 cases soared to nearly 1,300 once again, with 1,293 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry, 14 more people died due to complications caused by the virus.

This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 510,869 and the virus-related fatalities to 8,089.

The ministry also said that a total of 1,453 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 492,149.

The Riyadh region reported the highest number of new cases with 316, followed by the Makkah region with 262, the Eastern region with 219 and the Asir region with 129 infections.

The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just one of them reporting less than 10 infections.

According to the ministry, there were 10,631 active cases and 1,403 of them were in critical condition.
