Saudi Arabia tightens rules for public sector jobs

Experience will be an essential condition for contracting a certain category of employees in government institutions in Saudi Arabia which is seeking to create more jobs for its young people, a newspaper reported Tuesday.

Okaz, citing unidentified well-informed sources, said that higher Saudi bodies have approved introducing the condition of experience years for hiring the so-called “distinctly qualified” personnel, ending a long contracting policy that did not require experience in employing such cadres.

According to the new rules, eligible employees, holding BA degrees should have at least four- year experience or two-year experience if they hold higher degrees, the report said.

Employment contracts for them have been amended, limiting the performance allowance offered them to 10% of the basic salary for hiring renewal on condition that the employee’s evaluation should be at least good.
