Saudi Arabia’s First Container Services Company Kicks off Operations
Saudi Arabia’s first container services, Folk Maritime, kicked off its operations with its first vessel – Sunset X – arriving at the Jeddah Islamic Port.
The newly created container services company is expected to further strengthen the country’s maritime logistics sector.
Folk Marine, the first Saudi company specializing in container and feeder ships, will provide tributary ship services and short-distance sea freight to customers in the Arabian Gulf region, the Red Sea, and beyond.
The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) recently announced adding Folk Marine as a the new “NRS” shipping service to the Jeddah Islamic Port to connect the Kingdom to the ports of the northern Red Sea to facilitate the needs of the growing market and trade in the region.
The service is the sixth on the list of navigational services that the authority has added since the beginning of 2024.
