Saudi lawyer suspended for defaming a firm

The Lawyers’ Disciplinary Committee at the Ministry of Justice has suspended a lawyer from practising the profession for a period of one and a half years. The committee also decided to take legal procedures to hold the lawyer criminally accountable for the charges levelled against him.

These punitive measures were taken for insulting and defaming a company through a statement on his Twitter account. The committee found that this act was in violation of the legal system and the rules of professional conduct for lawyers.

The committee has also taken punitive disciplinary measures against four other lawyers who violated the legal system, its executive regulations, and the rules of professional conduct for lawyers.
