Saudi Special Forces Capture Lion on Loose in Riyadh
A lion found roaming the streets of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia has been captured by special forces.
The big cat was spotted by members of the public, who alerted authorities.
The Kingdom’s Special Forces for Environmental Security said the lion had been restrained and handed over to animal specialists.
The SFES shared a photograph of the animal in a cage on its official social media channels.
Trade in endangered wild animals is banned in the Kingdom, with penalties of up to 10 years in prison and fines of SR30m ($8m).
SFES urged members of the public to report irregularities to authorities.
