The ministry said in a statement that the counterfeiters had been apprehended upon guidelines by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Khaled Al Ahmad Al-Sabah to clamp down on any violators of the country’s laws.

Personnel of the MoI department of combating counterfeiting succeeded, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine embassy, in holding 33 Filipinos who issued fraudulent documents for members of the community.

Fake documents created by the gang included:

  • Study certificates
  • Marriage contracts
  • Driving permits

They have been referred to the relevant authorities for further legal procedures against them. Amid the ongoing spat, Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr spoke out on the importance of finding diplomatic solutions to the ongoing issue.
