Bahrain To Boost Waterway Safety With Advanced Navigational Marks
Efforts are underway to enhance the safety of the Kingdom’s waters through the implementation of new technology in navigational marks. The project has been awarded to the Middle East Navigation Aids Service for a contract amount of BD18,854.000, according to the tender project.
Navigational aids encompass various signals, markers, and guidance devices that assist travellers in maritime or aviation navigation. Examples include lighthouses, buoys, fog signals, and day signals. The project entails the removal and replacement of three abandoned navigational aids (AtoN) with state-of-the-art technology, featuring a light range of 1 to 5 nautical miles.
Additionally, the company will conduct a comprehensive maritime survey of Bahraini waters to identify areas and locations requiring relevant AtoN installation. During the bidding process, the project attracted two bids. Ocean Diving & Marine Services, with a quote of BHD 19,195.000, was the other bidder.
