50-Year-Old Man On Trial In Bahrain For Assaulting Brother

The Bahrain High Criminal Court kicked off the trial of a 50-year-old man accused of assaulting his brother, causing him a permanent disability.

The incident stemmed from a dispute over parking spaces. The court decided to adjourn the next session until January 30 to appoint a defence lawyer for the accused.

The victim, a 47-year-old man, had filed a complaint stating that on the day of the incident, an argument erupted between him and his brother regarding parking spaces. The accused allegedly abused his brother verbally and physically.

According to the victim, he was forced to the ground, and his brother delivered several blows to his chest and face. The incident occurred in the presence of their father, who testified.

The fight was broken up by an Asian man who was passing by. The Public Prosecution stated that the defendant assaulted the victim in April 2022, causing injuries as described in the forensic report, including a permanent disability of 10% as assessed by the medical committees. Additionally, the victim accused the defendant of defamation.
