Mubadala, SailGP To Host First Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix in UAE Capital

Abu Dhabi is gearing up to host the inaugural Abu Dhabi Sail Grand Prix, which is set to take place on January 13 and 14, 2024.

The racing event will take place at Abu Dhabi’s Mina Zayed and will feature the world’s top athletes representing national teams from around the world, competing on the water in hydrofoiling F50 catamarans capable of speeds nearing 100 km/h.

Presented in partnership with SailGP’s Global Series Partner, Mubadala Investment Company, and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, this event marks a significant addition to the Season 4 schedule of SailGP.

The championship series is known for its high-speed action and is one of the fastest-growing sports leagues globally.

Ten teams from Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States will compete over two days, racing close to the shore in Abu Dhabi’s port.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, President of the Emirates Modern Sailing and Rowing Federation, welcomed the UAE hosting of the most enthusiastic and exciting sailing boat race in the world.

As the event’s Title Partner and Global Series Partner of the Inspire Program, Mubadala Investment Company is supporting SailGP’s efforts to promote STEM education and inclusivity.

SailGP’s Inspire initiative has already engaged over 15,000 young people the world over, with the goal of reaching 25,000 young people by the end of 2025.

Fans can choose from various ticket categories, including premier grandstand seats with complimentary drinks and snacks, team-based tours for an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience, or on-water viewing for those with their own boats.
