Bahrain: Severe Traffic Jam at Exhibition Avenue

The closure of a street behind a commercial complex in the Exhibition Avenue is causing severe traffic jams and stifling crisis for visitors.

While the closure is aimed at carrying out various reforms and development work, many visitors to the complex, which is crowded with dozens of shops in addition to a private university, complained about the severe shortage of parking lots because of the closure. They asserted that many of them had to park their cars nearly a kilometre away from the complex.

A number of vehicles also had to use the pavements and sidewalks for emergency car parking, which exposes them to receive traffic fines.
