Saudi Arabia Arrests Over 16,000 Residency, Work, And Border Security Violators

Joint field campaigns to follow up and arrest violators of residency, work, and border security regulations, which took place in all regions of Saudi Arabia from June 27 to July 3, 2024, revealed a total of 16,565 violators. This included 9,969 violators of the residency system, 4,676 violators of the border security system, and 1,920 violators of the labor system. According to the statement from the joint field campaigns, the total number of people arrested while trying to cross the border into Saudi Arabia reached 1,244. Among them, 37% were Yemeni nationals, 60% were Ethiopian nationals, and 3% were of other nationalities. The campaigns also arrested 63 people for attempting to cross the borders out of the Kingdom irregularly. The field campaigns apprehended three people involved in transporting, harboring, and employing violators of the residency, work, and border security regulations, and covering up for them. The total number of those subjected to regulatory implementation procedures reached about 20,780 violating expatriates, including 19,396 men and 1,384 women. SR9 Million Awarded To Saudi Students With Talent In Cultural Skills 

The Saudi culture and education ministries recently honored pre-university general education students who were winners of the second edition of the Cultural Skills Competition held in Riyadh. The winners received prizes worth a total of SR9 million ($2.4 million) while the organizers of the competition signed three agreements to support distinguished talents. Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan, Hamed Fayez, deputy minister of culture, officials from the two ministries, Saudi cultural and art pioneers, and parents of the winning students attended the ceremony. Google And KAUST Unite To Advance AI Research In Saudi Arabia

Google recently awarded five seed grants to faculty members at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology to support research in artificial intelligence in Saudi Arabia. The grants, which total $100,000, will fund research projects focused on multilingual, multimodal machine learning, specifically using generative and large language models (LLMs).The researchers from the computer, electrical and mathematical sciences and engineering (CEMSE) division at KAUST will explore topics such as health, cross-cultural language understanding, sustainability, privacy and education. Saudi Environmental Police Arrest 3 Individuals For Illegal Hunting, Arson

Saudi authorities have arrested three citizens for violating the Kingdom’s environmental laws, including two for illegal hunting of wildlife and one accused of arson, the Special Forces for Environmental Security (SPES) announced on Sunday. In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the SPES said its field patrols arrested Ahmed Suleiman Maqbool Al-Sharari and Zahir Dhaif Allah Muslim Al-Sharari for hunting without a license inside the King Salman Royal Natural Reserve (KSRNR).  The duo were caught in possession of a firearm and live ammunition and a rabbit that they caught, according to SPES. “Regular procedures were taken against them and they were referred to the competent authority” for further investigation, it said. SPES said that the penalty for using firearms while hunting without a license is a fine of 80,000 riyals ($21,300), and the penalty for hunting during seasons and times when hunting is prohibited is a fine of 5,000 riyals ($1,330), and the penalty for hunting wild rabbits is a fine of 18,000 riyals ($4,790).  Covering an area of 130,000 square kilometers, KSRNR is Saudi Arabia’s largest natural reserve. Saudi: Foreign Gang Sentenced To Up To Ten Years For Copper And Electrical Cable Theft

The Public Prosecution has completed its investigation into an organized gang composed of eight foreign nationals accused of stealing copper and electrical cables. According to the investigation, the criminal pattern of the suspects involved the theft of electrical cables, which they concealed inside a rented location with the intention of selling them. The suspects have been arrested and referred to the appropriate court. Evidence and conclusive proof of their charges were presented, resulting in a verdict convicting them of the crimes attributed to them. They have been sentenced to up to ten years in prison and ordered to compensate for the damages caused by their actions. Additionally, they will be deported from the Kingdom upon completion of their sentences. Saudi Arabia Offers SR2.3 Billion Support To Encourage Private Sector To Employ Citizens In First Half Of 2024

A Saudi government fund, tasked with encouraging the private sector to employ citizens, has said SR2.3 billion was offered in support in the first half of this year. The Human resources Development Fund said around 220,000 male and female Saudis benefited from its support during the same period. The fund aims to strengthen professional sustainability, boost the engagement of Saudis in the labour market and achieve job stability in the private sector. Through its programmes, the fund also seeks to motivate the private sector to contribute to upgrade Saudi employees’ skills. In recent years, Saudi Arabia has launched several initiatives aimed at employing its nationals and replacing foreign workers in various fields such as education, telecommunications, and real estate. This labour policy, known as “Saudisation,” incentivises private sector enterprises to create jobs for Saudi citizens. The overall numbers of private sector employees in Saudi Arabia reached 11.4 million last month, according to an official report. Saudi Arabia Nets 14 Drug Dealers And Smugglers In Two Raids

Saudi anti-drug police have rounded up 14 people involved in narcotics peddling and smuggling in several parts of the country. The kingdom’s General Directorate of Narcotics Control said it had arrested seven Bangladeshi residents in Riyadh for dealing in 3.3kg of the highly addictive stimulant Methamphetamine, 12,432 tablets of amphetamine and an unspecified amount of hashish. The directorate also arrested two Syrian nationals and a Saudi citizen in the port city of Jeddah for peddling 21,000 tablets of amphetamine. In a separate raid, police had detained an expatriate and a Saudi citizen for dealing in 75,600 tablets of amphetamine in the Saudi city of Medina while border guard patrols arrested in the south-western region of Jizan two Ethiopian violators of the kingdom’s border rules for attempting to smuggle 40kg of the illicit qat stimulant substance. 16,565 Violators Of Residency, Labor Laws Arrested

In joint field campaigns across the Kingdom from June 27 to July 3, 16,565 people were arrested for violating residency and labor laws. That number included 9,969 violators of residency laws, 4,676 violators of border-security regulations, and 1,920 violators of labor laws. A total of 1,244 individuals were caught attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally, of whom 37 percent were Yemeni, 60 percent were Ethiopian, and 3 percent were of other nationalities. Additionally, 63 individuals were caught attempting to exit the Kingdom illegally. Three individuals were apprehended for involvement in transporting, harboring, and employing violators, as well as covering up for them. A total of 20,780 violators — 19,396 men and 1,384 women — are currently being processed by the relevant authorities, while 12,219 violators have been referred to their diplomatic missions to obtain travel documents. A further 2,931 violators have been ordered to finalize their travel arrangements, while 9,663 have so far been deported.
