ae flag Distracted UAE Driver Smashes Into Taxi; Crash Nearly Hits 3 Pedestrians

A traffic accident was caught on the Abu Dhabi Police’s road cameras, caused by a distracted driver who failed to spot a stationary taxi at a pedestrian crossing. In the 25-second clip that the police shared on Friday, a mini van fails to spot the taxi that had stopped for pedestrians to cross. The mini van tries to take evasive action at the last moment but slams into the taxi, which had indicated the stop earlier by turning the hazard lights on. The three pedestrians have a lucky escape after they spot the mini van ramming into the taxi. The Directorate of Traffic and Security Patrol urged drivers to pay attention at pedestrian crossings. The authority said that pedestrian safety is the joint responsibility of the pedestrians themselves and the drivers on the roads. It also urged motorists to give priority to pedestrians in places designated for their crossing and attention to pedestrian crossing movement. The authority said that not giving priority to pedestrians in the places designated for their crossing carries a fine of Dh500 and six black points.

Dubai’s Emirates Airline Suspends Transit Flights To Beirut As Regional Tensions Mount

Emirates, the Dubai-based airline, announced on Wednesday a significant change to its operations involving Beirut, Lebanon, in response to escalating regional tensions, Reuters reported. The carrier stated that passengers transiting through Dubai on their way to Beirut will not be accepted for travel on Thursday and Friday. This temporary measure affects a key segment of Emirates’ traffic to the Lebanese capital, potentially disrupting travel plans for numerous passengers. However, Emirates clarified that the restriction does not apply to all of its Beirut-bound customers. Travellers originating their journey in Dubai or those starting from Beirut will still be accepted for travel during this period. This distinction allows the airline to maintain some level of service to and from Lebanon while mitigating potential risks. The announcement came as part of a travel update issued by Emirates in response to the escalating security situation in the region. The decision follows a recent incident in the Golan Heights over the weekend and a targeted Israeli airstrike on a Beirut suburb last night which have heightened concerns about potential conflict escalation. As one of the largest carriers in the Middle East, Emirates’ decision could have significant implications for air travel in the area. Passengers with plans to travel to Beirut via […]
