UAE Uncovers New Secret Organisation Linked To Dissolved Terrorist Group

The UAE Attorney-General’s office has uncovered a new secret organisation operating outside the country, formed by fugitive members of the ‘Reform Call’ Organisation, which was classified as a terrorist organisation and dissolved in 2013. Investigations by the Public Prosecution revealed that the new group aims to revive the previous organisation and pursue similar objectives. The State Security Department has been monitoring fugitives sentenced in absentia in 2013, identifying two groups who have convened abroad and recruited others. TCF presents itself as a Middle Eastern ‘think-tank’ institution and is led by Anas Altikriti, a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood residing abroad. Dubai Metro Introduces Separate Trips to Two Destinations on Red Line

Dubai Metro has introduced a major change in its daily schedule introducing separate trips for some destinations. Effective August 1, separate trains will be operated on the Red Line to Expo 202 Station and the UAE Exchange Station. Commuters are advised to check the display screens to check the trains to avoid boarding the wrong trains. Make sure to check display screens to ensure your safe arrival to your destination. Distracted UAE Driver Smashes Into Taxi; Crash Nearly Hits 3 Pedestrians

A traffic accident was caught on the Abu Dhabi Police’s road cameras, caused by a distracted driver who failed to spot a stationary taxi at a pedestrian crossing. In the 25-second clip that the police shared on Friday, a mini van fails to spot the taxi that had stopped for pedestrians to cross. The mini van tries to take evasive action at the last moment but slams into the taxi, which had indicated the stop earlier by turning the hazard lights on. The three pedestrians have a lucky escape after they spot the mini van ramming into the taxi. The Directorate of Traffic and Security Patrol urged drivers to pay attention at pedestrian crossings. The authority said that pedestrian safety is the joint responsibility of the pedestrians themselves and the drivers on the roads. It also urged motorists to give priority to pedestrians in places designated for their crossing and attention to pedestrian crossing movement. The CBUAE levied a fine of AED5,800,000 on the bank, citing Article 14 of the Federal Decree Law No. (20) of 2018 on Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism and Financing of Illegal Organisations. The central bank stated that it works through its supervisory and regulatory mandates to ensure banks, their owners, and staff comply with UAE laws, regulations, and standards. This effort aims to maintain the transparency and integrity of the UAE’s banking sector and financial system. The name of the penalised bank was not disclosed in the statement.

Dubai: New Mall Worth Dh40 Million To Support Emirate’s Mosques

A new mall is being built in Dubai — but it’s not just any other shopping centre. This one is eco-friendly and, once up and running, it will finance mosque affairs in the emirate. The construction is now about 17 per cent complete, according to the Endowments and Minors’ Affairs Trust Foundation in Dubai (Awqaf). The project is part of Dubai’s ‘Mosques Endowment’ campaign that supports the Dubai Mosques Endowments Fund whose proceeds are meant to meet the needs of mosques. Spanning a total area of 165,000sqft in Al Khawaneej, the mall will feature 29 shops, a large shopping centre, a medical centre, restaurants, and a fitness centre. It will also include service facilities, roads, garden areas, parking lots, and two prayer rooms for men and women. UAE Announces Fee Refund For Tax Service Charges From August 1

Fees paid for “private clarification” of tax will be refunded in certain cases if the clarification is not issued, effective August 1, the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) announced. Under “private clarification”, companies could submit a request to seek further clarification related to one tax, or more than one tax issued by the FTA. The companies had to pay for this service starting June 1, 2023. If the request was related to one or more than one tax, and the clarification was not issued, the full fee shall be refunded. If the request is relating to more than one tax, and the clarification was issued for only one tax, a part of the fee shall be refunded. The amount to be refunded will be decided by calculating the difference between the fee for more than one tax, and the fee for one tax.
