Dubai reopens recreation centres, theme parks, spa centres

Dubai Economy has announced that certain recreation facilities, indoor theme parks and spa/message centres can now open.

In its latest update of the phased re-opening of the emirate, the Dubai Economy said recreation activities, such as funfairs, soft play facilities, indoor playgrounds, inflatable playgrounds, virtual reality facilities, edutainment facilities, facilities offering interactive entertainment activities and arcades and escape rooms could now open.

However, Dubai Economy said parties and social gatherings are still not permitted, and baby and toddler soft play areas (eg ball pit) will remain closed.

In addition to recreation facilities, it said all summer camps running in all types of facilities, including child centres, schools, hotels, sports clubs and gyms, libraries and art centres could now open. Nurseries are excluded from this, it said.

The indoor theme park IMG Worlds is allowed to open, but not allowed to host events, live entertainment and parties or social gatherings.

Massage and spa services are also permitted to reopen from today, which includes those in hotels, malls, grade A&B list of spas, salons and barbershop outside malls.

However, Dubai Economy said steam rooms, saunas, inhalation rooms, ice rooms, Jacuzzis, hot bath/Moroccan bath/Turkish hammam are not allowed to operate at the moment.

Those operating each facility must do so with Covid-19 health and safety measures, while customers must maintain social distancing and wear masks.
