Oman: Children under 12 allowed to visit malls

Children under the age of 12 in Oman are allowed to visit shopping malls and other public places, as the country is slowly returning to normal life amid strict COVID-19 precautionary measures, local media reported.

Earlier due to the pandemic, kids below 12 were not allowed in shopping malls, restaurants and barbershops. “Kids are now allowed to enter shopping malls and all other business activities,” said a top official at Muscat Municipality.

Businesses are gradually reopening across Oman and the easing of restrictions is paving the way for a return to normal life. Early this week the Supreme Committee has allowed cinemas, public parks, beaches and food courts to reopen.

“The Omani economy like every other country has been badly hit and it needs to get back to serious business. The responsibility lies among the public to stay cautious at all times. The government has done its best and its time we support them back to regain the old glory,” Puneet Malhotra, an economist based in Muscat.
