India’s New Low-Cost Airline Akasa Air Eyes Middle East for Its First International Flights
India’s new low-cost airline Akasa Air has reportedly got permission from the country’s civil aviation regulatory to fly on international routes.
The airline is expected to start international flights by December, with first destinations in the Middle East countries, the Economic Times (ET) reported.
The report, however, said the government is yet to allot traffic rights to Akasa Air. Once the traffic rights are granted, the airline will have to approach countries in the Middle East and elsewhere for approval from the respective countries.
The grant of rights for international operation marks a significant milestone for the year-old airline as international routes are generally more profitable and allow for increased aircraft utilisation.
