Saudi Arabia: 99% school students receive first dose of COVID-19 vaccine

The Ministry of Health stated that 99% of students between 12 and 18 years have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The ministry’s statement came a few days before the start of the new academic year, which is slated for Aug. 29.

Offline classes will start on August 29 for in intermediate and secondary school students as well as universities and technical institutions.

The ministry emphasized that only students who have taken two doses of the vaccine will be allowed to attend classes.

The Ministry of Education has set strict COVID-19 precautionary measures and preventive protocols to ensure a “safe return” to the classroom.

The Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health have coordinated to automatically book students’ vaccination appointments to prevent any delay in administering doses, with the aim of not disrupting classes from Sunday.
