Kuwait: New policy to increase private sector job opportunities for citizens

The State of Kuwait is looking to implement a minimum percentage of the number of Kuwaitis across the private sector, reports suggest. The implementation is taking shape following a study conducted by the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM). As part of the new implementation policy, non-government entities would need to commit to employing a required percentage of Kuwaiti citizens.

As part of the Kuwaitization policy, 80 per cent of the country’s banking and communication sectors have been replaced by Kuwaitis. The government is working to make the change in the insurance sector as well and employ at least 3,000 citizens in the next two years, based on their qualifications.

As per reports, the amendments are likely to be issued before the end of the year. At present, the State has over two million Kuwaitis and non-Kuwaitis in the public and private sectors.
