Bahrain: Over 2,900 Escaped Domestic Workers Reported

“The number of escaped domestic workers reached 2,939 between 2015 and 2020,” revealed Minister of Labor & Social Development and Chairman of the Board of Directors of LMRA.

According to the minister’s response, Ethiopian female workers make up the largest number of escaped domestic workers with 1,776. Indonesians ranked second at 412 workers, followed by Filipinos with 259.

The Kenyan nationality was fourth by 244 workers; Indian workers ranked fifth with 168; and Sri Lankans with 57 workers.

Meanwhile, Uganda has registered 11 workers. Five were recorded from Bangladesh, four from Nepal, and two from Ghana. One Eritrean worker was absent from work.
