Bahrain’s Mini Forest To Park Transformation Approved

The Northern Region Municipal Council has given the green light to a proposal aimed at transforming the mini forest situated on Street 36 in Block 544 within the Duraz area into an educational park.

Bassem Abu Idris, the representative of the Second District, affirmed that the proposal seeks to capitalise on the green space and its location by converting it into an area for both entertainment and education.

This move also serves as a gesture of appreciation for the collaborative efforts of the Friends of the Parks group, which partnered with a cleaning company to rehabilitate the site.

The park’s primary objective is to welcome male and female students from primary, preparatory, and kindergarten levels, offering them opportunities to visit and participate in various educational events.

In line with the proposal, the educational park will encompass a variety of shrubs and plants arranged around ponds.

It will feature interactive educational panels designed to engage children in play and learning, provide information on environmental topics, and showcase different types of crops.

Additionally, the park will include green spaces, walking paths, public amenities, and kiosks selling consumer goods that align with the park’s theme.

Abu Idris emphasised that the transformation of the mini-forest into an educational garden represents a significant step towards creating a safe recreational environment for citizens.

Furthermore, it aims to educate visitors about plant diversity and cultivation techniques.
