The Child Protection Unit in the Cybercrime Department of the General Directorate for Combating Corruption, Economic and Electronic Security has successfully apprehended an Asian man for impersonating women on Instagram.
The suspect’s motive was to lure children and young women into sending him personal photos and videos, which he then used to blackmail them, the Child Protection Unit in the Cybercrime Department said in a statement.
The arrest came after the Unit received several reports from concerned parents regarding similar incidents.
Acting swiftly, the Unit initiated an investigation, gathering evidence and identifying the suspect. He was subsequently apprehended, and legal proceedings are underway.
