UAE: Dh10,000 fine for Ras Al Khaimah treks without permit

The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority has strictly prohibited treks or mountain sports events without obtaining a permit. Violators will be fined Dh10,000.

The announcement came after several hiking and trekking-related accidents were reported.

To safeguard the public, the tourism department authorities have released a list of dos and don’ts for hiking enthusiasts:

-Plan your route and get home safely.

-Stay on the official trails and do not hike alone.

-Check the weather.

-Stay hydrated and carry a first-aid kit.

-Wear appropriate attire, use special hiking equipment and sufficient sunscreen.

-Do not litter.

-Alcohol, loud music and drones are prohibited.

-Stay away from all private lands, farms and wildlife.
