Oman warns of tropical depression in 48 hours

There is a possibility of a tropical depression in the south Arabian Sea forming within the next 48 hours, as indicated through a satellite aerial image, according to an alert by Oman Meteorology (Oman Met).

Another weather alert issued by Oman Meteorology showed that the coastal areas, especially Musandam governorate, is likely to receive rains on Thursday night due to the local cloud condensation. The situation developing in the Arabian Sea is being monitored, Oman Met said.

Over the past two weeks, parts of Oman witnessed sporadic rain with many people in the capital waking up to a cloudy sky on Thursday.

Nakhl, Al Sawadi and parts of Boushar in the capital area received moderate rains today. Popular Instagram handle @Weatheromanya posted images of rain-lashed towns of Oman on Thursday.

Khasab town in Musandam received good rains last week that quickly fed the waterfalls in its mountainous terrain. Khasab in Oman is situated close to UAE border and is surrounded by mountains, and is known for its fjord-like craggy inlets.
