Hi-tech thermal drones have been used in the Qassim region of Saudi Arabia to monitor the body temperatures of customers in open spaces like the livestock market in Buraidah, as part of precautionary measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
The drones are equipped with thermal cameras operating on artificial intelligence, according to a report by the Saudi Press Agency.
Similar technology has also been implemented by the municipal authorities in Medina, according to local reports.
The thermal cameras can monitor up to 24 people per second. If a person’s temperature reading is recorded to be high, they would be denied entry to the open market and asked to check with medical professionals immediately.
