Kuwait to halt import of Lebanese fruits, vegetables
Kuwait intends to halt the import of Lebanese fruits and vegetables, according to Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai.
The proposed Kuwaiti ban follows a similar decision taken by Saudi Arabia on Friday.
In a statement released by KUNA, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed that Kuwait fully supports Saudi Arabia’s decision to ban the entry of vegetables and fruits from Lebanon due to their exploitation for drug smuggling.
The ban will remain in effect until Lebanese authorities provide sufficient and reliable guarantees that they will take the necessary steps to halt systemic drug smuggling operations.
