Saudi Low-cost Carrier Flyadeal Expands Fleet With First Fully Owned Airbus A320neo

Flyadeal, Saudi Arabia’s rapidly growing low-cost airline, has announced the delivery of its newest Airbus A320neo, marking a significant milestone for the company.

This aircraft is the first to be fully owned by flyadeal, adding to its fleet that now comprises 33 Airbus A320 family jets.

Named “Al Sama” after an Arabic constellation star, the new A320neo is set to enhance flyadeal’s operational capacity, supporting the airline’s expanding network of nearly 30 destinations across Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, Europe, and North Africa.

The delivery ceremony in Toulouse was attended by flyadeal CEO Steven Greenway, Director of Maintenance and Engineering Ahmed Bakadam, and Senior Manager Technical Fleet Ali Alzahrani.

Greenway said, “The addition of aircraft number 33 represents a symbolic double milestone for flyadeal bringing in our first fully owned aircraft and inducting the first new aircraft into the fleet this year. Until now all flyadeal aircraft are leased. To have our first fully owned aircraft demonstrates the strength of our business and market confidence in our long-term growth strategy.

“With a plan targeting around 50 aircraft by the end of 2025 that will double to 100 by 2030, we are on course for a dynamic delivery schedule over the next few years. An incredible growth path that is being accelerated by the shear demand for inbound and outbound travel catering to a diverse profile of travellers.”

“The A320 family of aircraft has performed exceptionally well for us since we launched operations in 2017, and we are delighted to be working closely with our partner Airbus to continue providing our passengers with the high level of comfort and convenience flying on one of the world’s most environmentally friendly narrowbody aircraft,” he added.

The latest aircraft features a cabin with 186 seats in a 3-3 configuration and larger than normal overhead bins.

Last month, flyadeal made its largest-ever order for Airbus aircraft, comprising 12 A320neos and 39 A321neos, to meet future fleet requirements. This strategic move aligns with the airline’s expansion goals and its commitment to maintaining one of the youngest and most environmentally friendly fleets in the industry.
