Bahrain outlines new conditions in providing staff accommodation

Bahrain’s Health Minister has issued around 40 new health conditions and special specifications that every employer has to strictly follow in providing their workers suitable, safe and liveable accommodation.

Among the most notable conditions that employers should be committed to provide is an area with no less than four square metres of free space in each of their workers’ housing, a dining room and air-conditioning equipment.

The employer is also obligated to carry out the periodic maintenance of the residence and the necessary urgent repairs. It also obliges the employer to provide a dining room, whether independent or shared, in proportion to the number of workers residing in the accommodation.
