COVID-19: Twice the number of Omani deaths compared to expats

Twice the number of Omanis have died from COVID-19 in the country as compared to expatriates.

According to data from the Ministry of Health’s coronavirus monitoring app, Tarassud, 562 people have passed away from the disease. Of them, 376 are Omanis, and other 186 are foreigners.

Statistics also show that the majority of those who have died due to the virus are above the age of 60 (318 people). The remaining 244 are aged between 15 and 59.

Ministry of Health figures also show that three-fourths of the people (430) who have died from COVID-19 are men. 142 women have lost their lives due to infection from the disease.
